TREASURE TRESS | BOX OF CURLS

Hello my lovelies! Bringing you the February Treasure tress box which was all about defined curls - to see how I achieve my twist out click the video here! So inside the Tween box all products are focused on achieving the perfect curls.

After doing multiple twist outs & bantu knot outs which failed I realised the best results were the ones which used curl defining cream! Being one of the first naturalistas to try the Boucleme curl cream was awesome - all ingredients are completely natural! No sulphates, silicones or parabens!

Subscribe to the treasure tress box for only £20 a month! And receive all these goodies which is a brilliant way to save whilst trying new products that are guaranteed to be good. Few days left to subscribe to receive the March box - use my code CHRISSIEFEB16 to recieve 10% off your next order!

UNBOXING | TREASURE TRESS BOX + TIPS ON GROWING NATURAL HAIR

TREASURE TRESS:

Starting a natural hair journey can be incredibly complicated, especially with the endless amount of products available we don't know where exactly to start.

At the start of my natural hair journey I was an absolute product junkie, I bought everything I thought looked good but after doing some intense research I found out half these things weren't even good for my hair.

Treasure tress takes all those stresses away, they hand pick the best, healthiest products and deliver them in a monthly hair care box for only £20 + P&P however with my discount code CHRISSIEFEB16 you can get 10% of all orders until February 29th!! (Click here to buy your hair care box)

The box contains about 6 products which if bought separately would be waaaaay more so this is the perfect natural hair starter kit that will also save you from wasting your money on pooey products!

The packaging is absolutely gorgeous and I'm so in love idc idc. The theme of the January box was protective styling so inside we have 1. Jamaican black castor oil (yasssss!) 2. Ecostyler edge control, 3. Siren Organics Whipped Shea butter & mango hair cream 4. Siren Organics Moisturiser, 5. Olive oil cocktail curl forming creme & 6. Mixed Chicks Twisty hairbands

Here are some tips for having a healthy hair journey this year as well as the breakdown of each item!

Jamaican Black castor oil is the key to thick, healthy tresses. Usually in store for £10. I highly recommend this to EVERYONEEEEEEE on their hair journey, one of my absolute favourite products.

  • Increases hair growth
  • Brings ya edges back to life
  • Thickens hair
  • Keeps it moisturised
  • Makes hair more full and shiny
  • Boosts hair growth & health
  • Also great for sparse eyebrows

Siren Organics products are SLS, Paraben free and contain a blend of plant derived ingredients infused with essential oils. (A holy grail mix for natural hair!) - formulated to deal with dryness (Natural hair needs moisture to grow guys!) as well as breakage and thinning. The Whipped Mango & Shea butter cream moisturiser average around £13.99 so major deal being in the treasure tress box! Along with a range of other brands which if bought individually would add up to way more.

1. Perfect edge control why? NO FLAKES. I've been hunting for a flake free edge control for agesss that doesn't have the ugly white overcast and this is perfect.

2. Mixed chicks created the perfect hairbands which finally don't rip your hair out! Can easily be used to create a major poof as well as being doubled for tiny styles (Look out for how I use these over on my youtube channel in a styling video!)

3. Olive oil curl forming creme for more defined curls when styling !

So excited to see next month's box and what goodies I can feed to my fro. Good luck to everyone on their natural hair journey this year, keep your hair moisturised and tuck away your ends with protective styling to withstand the harsh weather. Let 2016 be the year of thickness & growth honeys! xo

HAIR | PASTEL

Right, as per, I do some cool bloggable thing and didn't record the process. So now I'll try my hardest to tell you guys in retrospect. One of my goals this year is to get better at doing posts/videos ON TIME so uh yeah I promise I'll get better.

WHAT YOU WILL NEED
*Note the best results are on platinum blonde extensions, but if using old extensions to avoid purchasing new ones then...
- Hair peroxide & bleach (12%/40 vol) - brand isn't really important but I used

- Pastel dye - I used la riche directions semi permanent in lilac which can be found in black hair shops or online, I used around 7 tubs as they are quite small, this was the amount for a bob length hair so if you are doing anything longer you will need way more.

- Toner (optional) I personally couldn't find a toner and didn't know how they worked so I just did it without but I do know it's helpful for removing yellow undertones which usually happens when bleaching.

PROCESS
1. Bleach hair - this is by far the hardest part and if this doesn't go well the rest will also flop. I managed to do this without a toner but apparently you get better results with a toner. I applied the peroxide and left it overnight, once finished, the hair was a yellowy orange. I repeated this process until the hair was incredibly light (closer to light blonde instead of orange) I found that bleaching in one go doesn't get you the lightest finish but if washed out and repeated over and over again it was easier to achieve a lighter finish.

2. Once the hair has reached the lightest you think you can possibly get it then apply the dye on wet hair as it stretches further, if you do it will dry you will need way more tubs. But the choice is yours.
While the tub does say only leave it for half an hour, I took in mind I was dying extensions which may take way longer so I left it for I believe it was a day.

3. I washed it out and the hair was not pastel. But a pretty strong purple. I didn't mind too much.

4. As the dye is semi permanent, after about 1 or 2 washes the pastel I originally wanted began to take full effect. It had a mixture of pink and blonde bits making it look slightly more lavender when straight. (yassssss, i just went with it tbh)

and after another wash - (more lavender/blonde)

Even though it turned out nothing like my inspiration picture, I quite liked it lol.

16 things to remember in 2016

Diary - Harvey Nichols | Cactus - Ikea

Over the last few months I've reached such a calming headspace - filled with more positivity and encouraging thoughts than ever before. At the start of 2015 I told myself I wanted to become a more positive person and it took me almost the whole year to truly reach a point of satisfaction. It's pretty amazing.

As I said over on my youtube channel - I don't want this to be a year where by the end of January we forget all the things we wanted to achieve. Write your goals down so you never forget them and you can constantly question whether you're doing anything to get closer to where you'd like to be.

As it's a new year I know lots of us are setting goals of how we'd like to grow so to help with that I'd like to sprinkle some motivation in your lives for 2016 as well as a new video over on my youtube channel!  - here are 16 things to remember not just in the heat of the new year resolutions but hopefully to carry with you on a daily basis throughout your lives xo

  1.  You are a reflection of your thoughts.
  2. Energy is contagious - you get back what you give out - positive energy attracts positive energy.
  3.  You will be ok - everything heals.
  4. Always aim to be the best version of yourself.
  5.  It's ok not to be ok - welcome all your feelings.
  6.  Keep moving forward. Even if it's the smallest step - push yourself.
  7.  You deserve the best.
  8. Be your number one fan.
  9.  Aim to be the best version of yourself .
  10.  Love yourself honey.
  11.  Whether you think you can or you can't - you're right.
  12. Stop comparing yourself, stay in your own lane - watch your own journey.
  13. Treat yourself every once in a while
  14.  Forgive, for your own peace of mind.
  15.  If you don't go after what you want - how else do you expect to get it?
  16. Take care of your body. Hydrate. Eat well. Sleep well. Take care of your energy source.
